My Consort's Glory Book Review - No Spoilers
Plot Summary
Consort's Glory by Abigail Kelly thrusts me into a world where magic, politics, and love collide. Margot Goode works as a healer, determined to stay unnoticed in a city where being seen can get you killed. Still, hiding is impossible when someone bombs her Healing House, nearly taking her life and blowing her secret wide open. Margot isn’t just any witch—she’s the granddaughter of the powerful Goode Matriarch, which makes her a target but also someone not to be crossed.
Her story unfolds as she searches for a person who can help control her dangerous magic before it destroys her. Enter Theodore Solbourne, an elven sovereign who’s been waiting for Margot all his life, hoping she’ll become his consort. When her life is threatened, all his plans for gentle courtship vanish—he’s forced to act fast to keep her and his kingdom safe. Together, Margot and Theo face brewing war, divine interventions, and the threat of betrayal. The future of the magical world hangs in the balance, and neither can walk away from what’s coming next.
Why I Love This Book
I love how Consort's Glory makes the stakes feel immediate and personal. Margot is complex—she’s powerful yet vulnerable, and her internal struggles are so real that I can’t help but root for her. Theo is patient, loyal, and determined. I appreciate that he has unwavering devotion and doesn’t play games with Margot’s heart.
The romance is both sweet and intense. It’s rare to see two characters who are both new to love, figuring out how to trust not only each other but also themselves. The world-building pulled me in. The magical politics, the threat of war, and the idea of powerful, ancient families add depth. I especially like the moral questions—what it means to carry secrets, how fear shapes choices, and whether love really can change everything.
Sometimes the pacing feels a bit uneven, and Margot’s reluctance can be frustrating. But by the middle of the book, the story clicks. Every chapter becomes more gripping. I find that the emotional payoff for sticking with Margot and Theo makes the journey worthwhile.
Who Will Like This Book
If you like fantasy romance with high stakes, strong world-building, and a couple of stubborn yet soft-hearted leads, you’ll want to read this. Anyone who loves stories about witches, elves, fate, and political intrigue will find a lot here.
I recommend this to readers who like a mix of danger, slow-building trust, and characters who have to fight for their chance at happiness. If you want a romance where both partners have a lot on the line—and where the magic is just as important as the love story—this book delivers.

Steam Level
🌶️🌶️🌶️ | Moderate
There’s definite chemistry and some well-earned intimacy, but the focus stays on building trust and emotional connection. Scenes are tasteful without being too explicit, and consent is always at the forefront. I think the level of heat strikes a good balance for readers who want a bit of spice without losing sight of the story.
