My Let's Do This Book Review - No Spoilers
Plot Summary
Shaw and Burk are best friends, college hockey teammates, and roommates. They’ve been inseparable since we met, leaning on each other through big wins and tough losses. Burk—the defenseman everyone calls Burkie—always feels like home. But when a package arrives that isn’t meant for Shaw, everything changes. Suddenly, Shaw sees Burkie in a way he never has before. Their friendship tests its own limits as they figure out what these feelings mean—on and off the ice. There’s fear that getting closer could ruin the best thing they’ve ever had, but they can’t stop wanting more.
Why I Love This Book
This story just makes me happy. Shaw and Burkie have this friendship that feels real—awkward, goofy, supportive, and so soft. I love how their bond starts out simple but grows complicated in the best way. Both guys struggle with figuring out what they want, and I love watching them fumble their way through confusion, jealousy, and hope. The pacing works perfectly. Every moment between them feels earned, with just enough slow tension and anticipation that keeps me hooked. I really appreciate how the author makes their journey less about drama and more about trust, comfort, and opening up.
There’s hardly any angst here, just two guys figuring themselves out and falling in love, slowly and sweetly. The found family feels are strong, with supporting side characters who each shine on their own. Even the sports scenes get me invested. The way Leigh writes intimacy and connection is both hot and heartwarming. Sometimes I read for drama, but this book reminds me how good it feels to watch healthy, honest love unfold. Every chapter leaves me smiling (and occasionally blushing).
