My Losers: Part I Book Review - No Spoilers
Plot Summary
Losers: Part I by Harley Laroux opens with a group of outcasts: Manson, Jason, Lucas, and Vincent—the so-called “losers” of Wickeston High. Years ago, Jessica, once the school’s queen bee, made choices that set her apart from these boys, culminating in secrets and betrayals that left deep marks on everyone. Now, after college and a bruising return home, Jessica’s life collides once again with the four men she never forgot—and never really got over. When a twist of fate and a busted car force her into their orbit, the five of them strike a dark bargain: Jessica agrees to repay her old debt with her body and, maybe, her heart. The story unfolds through multiple points of view, exploring themes of trauma, found family, dark desire, loyalty, and the blurred lines between hate and obsession. Every character brings baggage, longing, and scars, but together they find something like love in the mess they make.
Why I Love This Book
I love how Losers: Part I drags every emotion out of me—the pain, the anger, the shame, and then the intense craving for comfort and acceptance. These characters are raw, messy, and flawed as hell. But the way they fit together, like a found family built from broken pieces, just floored me. The romance doesn’t play by the rules; it’s fierce and unapologetic, tangled up in past hurts and new trust. The group chemistry is off-the-charts, not just in the steamy scenes (which are wild), but in the little domestic moments—the softness after the chaos, the aftercare, the jokes over pancakes the morning after a rough night. There’s a delicate balance between darkness and sweetness that gets me. Most of all, I respect how every boundary is clearly drawn, consent is front and center even in the rough stuff, and every character’s pain is taken seriously instead of being brushed aside. The book lets the characters be both cruel and kind, scared and brave, and that realism keeps me hooked, turning every page, aching for their happy ending.

If you crave dark romance with heavy BDSM, trauma, healing, and a true found family vibe, this is it. You’ll need to be comfortable with taboo, kink, and power play—there’s MF, MM, group scenes, and an unapologetic “why choose” setup. The story is intense, sometimes brutal, and always emotional. If you want books with clear, enthusiastic consent (even when it’s rough), well-drawn kink, sweet aftercare, and a focus on character growth—not just spice—you should pick this up.

The spice in Losers: Part I is beyond explicit—every kind of scene you can imagine, and then some. The group scenes are frequent and creative, with a strong focus on kink and sensation. Consent is always present, often checked and reaffirmed, which makes even the filthiest moments feel safe. If you want emotional AND sexual intensity, this book delivers.
