My Monster Pucker Book Review - No Spoilers
Plot Summary
Monster Pucker by Ashley Bennett and Clio Evans is a super spicy, MMF monster hockey romance novella and the first book in the Pucking Monsters series. When sports journalist Holly sneaks into a monster hockey team’s locker room for a story, she stumbles on a secret relationship between two of the league’s star players: Klaus, a legendary Krampus with a gruff exterior, and Frank “Flurry” Murry, a lovable yeti with big dreams. Caught in the act (and not just by her!), Holly is swept up in their world—one built on secrecy, fiery chemistry, and the thrill of the National Monster Hockey League. The trio’s night together leaves ripples that neither can ignore. Soon, they’re dealing not only with new feelings, but also a threat: blackmail and outside forces that could ruin their shot at a real connection. Navigating the monster world’s spotlight and their own vulnerability, Holly, Klaus, and Frank must decide if this fast, wild thing can turn into real love—or if it’s just a holiday fling.
Why I Love This Book
I love how this book goes all in on both the monster romance and hockey chaos. The chemistry between the trio hits instantly—there’s no slow burn, just explosive connection, big feelings, and open communication every step of the way. Klaus is the perfect mix of stern and soft, Frank brings perseverance and the sweetest energy, and Holly’s boldness makes the whole thing work. I adore how the author leans into kink and fun without making it heavy or mean—everything is consensual, with jokes and gentle check-ins to keep it safe and sexy.
The novella is unapologetic about its steam, but there’s a real heart at the center: these characters are sweet, hugely protective of each other, and fiercely supportive through every wild twist. The communication and enthusiasm for kink made me feel like these monsters actually cared about each other, and about Holly’s place between them. Plus, the setup—a snowed-in locker room, hockey games with growling monsters, and locker room high jinks—had me grinning through all the spicy scenes. The light suspense subplot (blackmail threats) adds an extra dash of drama without taking over the fun.
Above all, this book is just a good time. It leans into the weirdest parts of monster romance and delivers page after page of warmth, cuddles, and wild, inventive steam. It left me smiling and excited for the next book in the Pucking Monsters series.
Who Will Like This Book
If you love monster romance, hockey shenanigans, and super-steamy ménage stories, you’ll want this on your list. Fans of quick, high-heat smutty novellas with lots of dirty talk, big size differences, and a curvy, confident heroine will have a blast. If you want enthusiastic consent, heart, and goofy monster kink, this is a sweet spot between wild and warm. If you’re new to monster romance but love sports romance and MMF tropes, this is a fun starter.
⚠️ Trigger warning: There are elements of blackmail (not by the love interests), voyeurism, and explicit steamy content including kink (knotting, praise, spanking, double penetration, and more). No non-con or on-page cheating. The threats are suspenseful but resolved quickly, and the overall tone is playful and celebratory of kink. There’s mention of photos taken without consent (by an outside character) and some fetish content, but nothing dark or heavy.
