My My Favorite Color is Your Something Blue Book Review - No Spoilers
Plot Summary
My Favorite Color is Your Something Blue by Eva Austin is a sweet, closed-door YA romance set around a summer wedding. Morgan, hoping for a quiet end to her summer, gets dragged by her mom to a wedding in tiny, lakeside Oklahoma. She isn't thrilled—especially when she finds out the couple getting married have plans to set her up with Will, the groom’s younger cousin. Morgan and Will already had a run-in at a gas station (involving a spilled blue slush and a disastrous first impression). Now, stuck together for wedding week, the two have to navigate awkward family matchmaking, lakeside activities, and all the little dramas that come with a town out of a Hallmark movie. As they cross paths again and again during wedding prep, banter turns to real connection. Told in dual POV, this light summer romance is about what happens when you let go of grudges, open up to possibility, and allow yourself to be seen—even when it’s messy.
Why I Love This Book
I love how this book knows exactly what it is—fun, uplifting, and wonderfully wholesome. Morgan’s voice is strong; she’s stubborn, snarky, and sometimes lets her guard down in ways that made me root for her. Will feels like a real teen—funny, a little awkward, and always trying to make things better after their rocky start. Their dynamic is charming, full of banter and genuine chemistry without being forced. The wedding setting makes every scene feel busy, warm, and alive, and I enjoyed the bits of small-town life, from lakeside fun to nosy relatives. There are moments that made me laugh, and a few that felt honest about what it’s like to be the odd one out. I like that faith is present in the background without being overbearing—the characters talk about God and church, but the story stays light. Mostly, I love that this book is squeaky clean and still delivers all the feels—a perfect pick-me-up kind of story.
Who Will Like This Book
If you want a cute, clean teen romance with enemies-to-lovers moments, small-town charm, and the chaos of a family wedding, you’ll like this book. Fans of Kasie West and closed-door YA romance will feel right at home. This is perfect for younger teens, tweens, or anyone who wants a story with honest, relatable main characters and absolutely no mature content. It works as a summer read but is cozy enough for any time of year.
⚠️ Trigger warning: There’s nothing heavy—expect mentions of awkward first impressions, anxiety, and the ups and downs of big families, but no mature or distressing content at all.
