My Prey for Rabbit Book Review - No Spoilers
Plot Summary
Prey for Rabbit by Aiden Pierce is a dark, splatterpunk werewolf romance set in a world where rabbit shifters maintain a centuries-old truce with werewolves by sending three of their kind into the woods each Easter as prey. Ruth—a rabbit shifter picked for sacrifice—refuses to accept this grim fate and prepares to fight back, armed with only her wit and an old ax. When the annual hunt begins, she catches the attention of Carver, a silver-haired, outcast werewolf whose inner beast finally speaks to him at the worst possible time. As Ruth and Carver’s deadly game twists into something far more tangled, they’re forced to face primal instincts, brutal secrets, and a forbidden heat that neither of them can resist. This novella is as much about survival and defiance as it is about the monsters—literal and not—that lurk in the dark.
Why I Love This Book
I love how this book throws all boundaries aside with its wild, gore-soaked energy. The horror and shock value are real, but so is the breakneck pacing that makes every page feel like a new gut punch. Ruth is a bloodthirsty, clever heroine—she’s done taking orders, done being prey, and her refusal to go quietly makes me root for her at every turn. The tension between her and Carver is outrageous—a tangle of hate, hunger, and heat. Carver’s animal need is as violent and messy as his struggle to do the right thing, and their chemistry is both brutal and magnetic.
What stands out to me most is the balance between depravity and strangely sincere connection. The book is full of primal power games, size kink, biting, blood, and scenes that made me say “WTF” out loud—but beneath the carnage is an undercurrent of sweetness, especially as Ruth and Carver discover what it means to risk everything for someone you should want to destroy. The twists kept me guessing, and I’ll never look at an ax (or bunny shifters) the same way again.
I also appreciate how unapologetically weird and bold this story is. It lands somewhere between fever dream and midnight horror flick—shock, dark humor, survival, and chemistry that’s all claws and teeth. There’s genuine character depth tucked in with the chaos, plus plenty of so-wrong-it’s-right spice. For fans of the wild and unhinged, this is exactly the kind of story I crave.
Who Will Like This Book
If you love dark, depraved paranormal romance that pushes boundaries—and you want steamy, violent, and weirdly heartfelt enemies-to-lovers action—this book is for you. It’s ideal for monster romance fans, primal play, size difference, horror elements, and kink. If you’re squeamish, this isn’t your vibe: there’s gore, murder, dubious consent, blood play, and all kinds of twisted power games. If you want something campy, shocking, and full of animal magnetism, jump in.
⚠️ Trigger warning: This novella contains graphic violence, blood, murder, gore, dubcon/noncon, size kink, biting, breeding kink, and sexual power games. There are scenes of animalistic violence and dark sexual content. Please check full content warnings in the book’s front matter before reading.

The spice is off the charts—expect frequent, explicit, and darkly creative scenes, with every fantasy as intense and boundary-pushing as the plot. There’s little restraint and plenty of feral, messy heat. Not for the tame or the faint of heart.
