Plot Summary
Spellbound in His Arms by Angel Sefer is the first book in the Greek Isles Series. Jackie Alexander is an investigative reporter determined to unravel a string of suspicious deaths tied to an old family fortune on the sun-drenched island of Corfu. She’s headstrong and clever, but her assignment puts her right in the path of Michael Apostolou, a brooding, ex-special forces detective with secrets of his own. Both are on the hunt for answers in the mysterious Demiris mansion, each needing to solve the puzzle for their own reasons. There’s immediate tension—and attraction—between Jackie and Michael, but their secrets and a lurking killer force them to work together, even when they can’t fully trust each other. The story plays out against the captivating Greek scenery, blending suspense, danger, and romance, all the way through.
Why I Love This Book
I love how quickly this story pulled me in. I felt the suspense on every page and couldn’t set the book down. The mystery isn’t hard to follow, but it keeps me second-guessing who can be trusted. The twists and surprises show up just when I think I’ve figured things out, and I enjoy how the tension never lets up. Jackie is a heroine with flaws—sometimes impulsive, sometimes stubborn—but that makes her feel real, and I root for her survival and happiness. Michael is the perfect counterbalance: guarded and strong, but slowly letting his protective side come through. The chemistry between them is electric from the start, and the push-pull dynamic of their relationship adds so much to the suspense. The setting is easy to imagine—lush, vivid, even a little haunting at times. I finished the book in almost one sitting because every chapter ended on a note that made me want to keep going. The balance of romance and intrigue just works. I love how the story combines a fast-paced mystery with an irresistible love story set in such a beautiful place.
Who Will Like This Book
If you enjoy romantic suspense, especially with a strong heroine and an emotionally complex, alpha hero, I think you’ll like this book. The story is for anyone who likes chase scenes, danger, and a bit of forced proximity in their romance. It’s not an overly graphic story, so if you want mystery with some steam but don’t want things too explicit, this is for you. The writing is direct and not bogged down by heavy world-building. Just a warning: some parts show violence and threats, but nothing that feels exploitative or over the top. If you’re drawn to stories set somewhere beautiful and windswept (and want your heart rate to tick up while you read), this one hits the mark.

Steam Level
The romance has heat, but scenes are not overly graphic. The tension is as much emotional as it is physical, and I never felt like the romance overshadowed the suspense.
