Those Who Wait Book Review - No Spoilers
Plot Summary
Those Who Wait by Haley Cass follows Sutton Spencer, a graduate student who wants little more than to finish school and find real love, and Charlotte Thompson, a driven politician who treats romance as a distraction. When Sutton’s friend signs her up on a sapphic dating app, she and Charlotte meet—awkwardly, but in a way that sparks something neither expects. They try to keep things casual, but their emotional bond deepens as they juggle ambition, identity, and the risk of real feelings.
Why I Love This Book
I love how real it feels. The slow burn drew me in, even when I thought it might drag. I connect with Sutton’s nerves and Charlotte’s restraint. The mix of politics and intimacy grounded the romance in reality. I felt the tension build—every glance mattered. I love how the characters grow, and how their fears and hopes feel raw. The writing held me through more than 600 pages without losing me. I care about them long after I finish.
Who Will Like This Book
If you like sapphic slow-burn romance, especially friends-to-lovers with depth and emotional tension, this might stay with you. If you enjoy character-driven stories that explore identity, desire, and personal ambition, this is for you.
⚠️ Trigger warning: This book contains explicit sexual content and adult themes. I think it’s smart to check the content in advance.
