As You Ice It Book Review - No Spoilers
Plot Summary
As You Ice It by Emma St. Clair wraps up the Appies Hockey Romance series with a second-chance story that’s both sweet and heartfelt. Naomi, a single mom, thought she’d left her summer romance with NHL star Camden Cole behind. But when her job brings her—and her son Liam—to Harvest Hollow, she walks right into Camden’s orbit all over again. Now she has to face old feelings, navigate Liam’s fast friendship with Camden, and decide whether to let love back in. This installment ties together loose ends from the Appies series, yet it stands well on its own.
Why I Love This Book
I love how it feels like coming home. I love seeing Naomi rediscover hope as Camden gently makes space for her and Liam. I love that it’s low-angst but high in emotion and communication. I love when the Appies circle—the Dream Team texts, the team and wives—rallies around them. I love how Liam steals the show with his meddling hockey facts and loving persistence. I love Camden’s quiet strength, his thoughtful care, and how he lets his walls fall. I love that it ends with warmth, family, and just the right amount of joy.
Who Will Like This Book
If you like friends-turned-more dynamics, hockey-town settings, second-chance romance, or sweet, closed-door love stories, this one’s for you. It’s great for those who love emotionally satisfying endings, family ties, and gentle romance.
⚠️ Trigger warning: The story touches on dementia and emotional grief through Camden’s family, and includes themes of abandonment and vulnerability. It’s handled with care, but I think it’s good to know going in.

The emotional connection is strong, and there are gentle kisses, but everything stays closed-door. It’s all about heart, not heat.
