Cross the Line Book Review - No Spoilers
Plot Summary
Cross the Line by Simone Soltani follows Dev Anderson, a Formula 1 driver whose career is teetering after a social media disaster threatens sponsors and team support. At a glamorous Monaco party, he reconnects with Willow Williams—his best friend’s younger sister—who he kissed in the past and can’t stop thinking about. Willow, fresh out of college and looking for a break, reluctantly agrees to help Dev as his social media manager, despite keeping her crush hidden. As they navigate racing’s fast lane and blurred personal boundaries, their professional arrangement heats up into something much harder to ignore.
Why I Love This Book
I love how real and warm Willow feels—she’s bright without being perfect. I love Dev’s tension and humor, his charm hiding deeper needs. I love that their chemistry sparks in small moments—when he notices her smile, when she lets her guard down. I love how the F1 world adds glamour and stakes without drowning the romance. I love how chronic pain and hypermobility are woven into Willow’s life with subtle care—it never defines her, but it makes her feel human. I love that their bond grows slowly past childhood familiarity into something new and hopeful.
Who Will Like This Book
If you’re drawn to sweet yet steamy friends-to-lovers stories in fast-paced sports settings, this one works. If you want characters who feel alive—flawed, funny, and grounded—you’ll connect here.
⚠️ Trigger warning: This book touches on chronic illness and emotional strain tied to public image. It’s gentle, but worth noting before you dive in.
