My Dirty Filthy Rich Boys (Dirty Duet) Book Review - No Spoilers
Plot Summary
"Dirty Filthy Rich Boys (Dirty Duet)" by Laurelin Paige is a scorching, dark, and dramatic romance about obsession, power, and twisted attraction. The story centers on Sabrina Lind, a scholarship student at Harvard who gets drawn into the orbit of two ultra-wealthy, tempting men: Weston King and his best friend, Donovan Kincaid. I love how the book kicks off when Sabrina sets her sights on Weston, the party king, only to get pulled into tangled games with Donovan, who is controlling, manipulative, and undeniably magnetic. After a traumatic night at a party, Donovan steps in as a dark protector, while Weston—finally seeing Sabrina—begins to pursue her. Their lives stay connected by raw chemistry and secrets. Years after their first dangerous encounter, Sabrina is forced back into their world, now working for Weston’s and Donovan’s powerhouse company, only to find the sexual tension and past wounds between her and Donovan even sharper. Caught between the thrill of being wanted and the fear of losing herself, she must decide how far she’s willing to go for a shot at power, vengeance, and twisted love.
Why I Love This Book
This duet is total catnip for anyone who craves dark, intense romance with taboo edges. I found myself on edge the whole time, totally absorbed in the dangerous push-pull between Sabrina and Donovan. The story is bold—it dives straight into uncomfortable power games, jealousy, manipulation, and moral gray areas without trying to soften the blow. Sabrina is a character I rooted for; she’s sharp, ambitious, and refuses to play the victim even when thrown into wild situations. I’m obsessed with the tension—Donovan is both the ultimate villain and the person I wanted Sabrina to choose, even as he constantly tests her limits. The love triangle setup is gripping, but the chemistry between Sabrina and Donovan is where all the energy burns. Weston adds just the right amount of sweetness and temptation. I love how the book doesn’t try to make any of the characters “good”—they’re all messy, selfish, and sometimes cruel, but it works. The sex scenes are explosive and push the boundaries of what I expect from contemporary romance.
What really got me hooked, though, was how the power dynamic at the heart of the story kept shifting. At times I was uncomfortable, at others I found myself desperate to know who would win and whether Sabrina could take back her power—not just over the men but over her own wants. The suspense, quick pacing, and willingness to go deep with the darker themes makes this a duet I couldn’t put down, even when it was a wild ride.
Who Will Like This Book
If you like your romance loaded with obsession, power games, and high risk, you’ll be all in. This is perfect for anyone who loves dark romance, morally gray characters, and explicit, open-door sex scenes. If you want clean-cut heroes or relationships built on sweetness, you might want to look elsewhere—this is about temptation, danger, and all the ways power warps love. You’ll also enjoy this if you’re drawn to stories that feature love triangles, forbidden student/teacher tension, and the thrill of taboo. Fans of anti-heroes and “bully romance” tropes will be completely at home.
