My From Now On Book Review - No Spoilers
Plot Summary
From Now On by C.W. Farnsworth is the third book in the Holt Hockey series. It centers on Eve Driscoll, who is trying to recover from the end of a three-year relationship. On the verge of graduating college and ready to become an artist in New York, she’s convinced by her best friend to tag along on a spring break road trip—a trip where she’ll have to spend the week as a “fifth wheel” with two couples plus Hunter Morgan. Hunter, fresh off a national championship and facing an uncertain future after hockey, never forgot when he met Eve his freshman year. Now, both at turning points in their lives, they’re forced together again. The book follows them through awkwardness, lingering tension, and the question of whether the timing will ever be right to risk more than friendship. Set against the backdrop of college endings, found family, and figuring out adulthood, the story brings plenty of heart, slow-burn chemistry, and hope that sometimes, a second chance comes at just the right time.
Why I Love This Book
I love the slow burn and the way both Eve and Hunter are quietly aching for each other for years. The story feels honest about heartbreak, nostalgia, and what it’s like to look back on college as a mix of regret and hope. Eve's determination to go after her dreams—even while she’s unsure—feels easy to relate to. I appreciate how vulnerable both leads are, how their connection builds from old memories and tiny moments instead of dramatic declarations. Hunter’s soft side and gentle care for Eve really won me over. The friend group and found family vibes are strong, making even the side characters feel real and warm. The pacing matches the quiet, introspective emotional arc, and I love that the book doesn’t rush the romance but lets tension simmer. When the payoff finally comes, it feels earned. By the last page, I understood both characters so well that I felt a bit wistful about leaving their world behind.
Who Will Like This Book
If you love college sports romance with a focus on friendship, hesitant pining, and slow-burn yearning, you’ll connect with this one. This is for readers who enjoy friends-to-lovers stories, dual POVs, found family energy, and small, everyday moments of vulnerability. If you want lots of hockey scenes, note that this book leans more toward romance and emotional growth than in-game action. Eve and Hunter are soft-hearted, shy, and a little bit broken, so if you like bold, over-the-top drama, this is a gentler read. It’s a “feels” book, perfect for when you want a comfort romance that understands how hard growing up can be.
⚠️ Trigger warning: Includes mature content, heartbreak, breakups, and discussions of mental health. Always check content warnings if you have triggers.

The spice is moderate, with open-door scenes that are tender and meaningful, but the emphasis is more on emotional intimacy and gentle discovery than sheer heat. If you’re after a story where the feelings take center stage, this steam level is just right.
