Margo and the Faux Good Luck Beau Book Review - No Spoilers
Plot Summary
In Margo and the Faux Good Luck Beau by Ellie Hall, Margo is tired of being the only single one in a family that values wealth over love. At her cousin’s wedding, she impulsively tells everyone that a handsome hockey player is her fiancé to shut down their judgment. That goalie, Beau, reluctantly agrees to go along—partly because he has his own family pressure around inheritance and marriage. What starts as a half-hearted scheme soon becomes something real, in a small-town setting with hockey, found family, and sweet romance. It’s part of the Nebraska Knights Holiday Hockey Romance series, but it stands well on its own.
Why I Love This Book
I love how the fake-fiancé plan feels real and emotional, not just a gimmick. I love that Margo has a gentle, sunny strength, and I love how Beau’s protective, grumpy side softens as he opens up. I love how they build each other up—she finds confidence, he loosens his defenses—and I love that the found family from his team becomes a warm backdrop. I love how fast-paced it is without feeling rushed. I love the small-town, holiday-tinged charm and the playful shamrock bits. I love that it’s clean, closed-door, with just enough swoon and lots of heart.
Who Will Like This Book
If you like fake-fiancé or marriage-of-convenience stories, grumpy/sunshine pairings, sports romance, or just heartfelt, clean rom-coms, you’ll like this. If holiday romance or hockey-town vibes appeal, that’s here too.
⚠️ Trigger warning: This book includes emotional family pressure and verbal belittling though handled gently. I think it’s smart to be aware before reading.
