My The Pucking Wrong Number Book Review - No Spoilers
Plot Summary
The Pucking Wrong Number by C.R. Jane is a standalone hockey romance that starts with a simple text sent to the wrong number. Monroe, alone in a new city and struggling to get by, answers a text meant for another woman. She doesn’t realize she’s talking to Lincoln Daniels—an NHL superstar and the golden boy of the Dallas Knights. Their digital connection sparks something addictive, but when Lincoln finds out who she really is, he becomes obsessed. He pursues Monroe with intensity that borders on obsession, quickly involving himself in every part of her life. The story blends dark romance tropes with the world of professional hockey, steering Monroe and Lincoln into a tangled web of passion, power, and secrets that threaten to upend everything for both of them. It’s a fast-paced, ultra-spicy story that isn’t afraid to push boundaries or dive into taboo territory.
Why I Love This Book
I love how bold and unapologetic this book is. The pacing is lightning fast—I get caught up in Monroe and Lincoln’s connection from the opening pages and never feel like the story drags. I enjoy Lincoln’s over-the-top, possessive energy; he’s all in from the start, which is both wild and captivating. Monroe’s journey from skepticism to surrender feels believable, even as things spiral into madness. There are moments that make me question sanity, laugh, and squirm, but I always trust that the story will deliver the intensity I crave. The hockey backdrop adds fun world-building, but the real game is their twisted relationship. I’m not looking for realism here—I want taboo, obsession, and high stakes, and this book never disappoints on those fronts. Even when the characters’ choices are wild or unhinged, I stay glued to the page, eager for the next surprise.
Who Will Like This Book
If you love dark romance with a truly obsessed hero, extreme possessiveness, and stalker vibes, you’ll want this on your list. There’s a lot of hockey, but even more mind games, with plenty of taboo and shock-factor moments. Fans of OTT (over-the-top) antiheroes, dark stalker romance, and morally grey characters will be hooked. But if you’re bothered by red flags, controlling heroes, or non-consensual themes, this won’t be for you. It’s not a “light sports romance”—it’s intense, risky, and sometimes disturbing.
⚠️ Trigger warning: This book contains stalking, dub/non-con elements, kidnapping, drugging, manipulative behavior, abuse references, childhood trauma, death of a parent, obsessive love, and explicit sex. Check content notes before reading if you have triggers.
